Tony Allen spent years behind the kit with Fela Kuti, helping build the rhythmic backbone of Afrobeat. Secret Agent is what happens when that groove steps into the spotlight. It first came out in 2009 on World Circuit, and the 2022 remaster is back on vinyl, pressed on two 180g LPs.
Allen's drumming is loose and precise at once, with a pulse that makes everything around it float. Groovy Afrobeat. Don’t read my lousy descriptions of this great record. Spin it.
