Bob Marley & The Wailers, Roots, Rock, Reggae: Live at the Hammersmith Odeon, Now on Vinyl in Frisco

In June 1976, Bob Marley & The Wailers played four nights at London's Hammersmith Odeon, June 15 through 18, and those shows have been talked about by reggae fans ever since. Now an 18-track set from that residency is officially out on vinyl for the first time, newly mixed from the original multitrack recordings and pressed on 180g double LP.

This might be my favorite thing in the whole Marley catalog. It hit me at a time when I thought I had heard all of it. I have loved Marley through every stage of my life, and this record/performance made me appreciate that moment in time in a whole new way.

I love how it gets super dubby, with slow intros to songs I've never heard before. It doesn't sound very adrenaline-fueled. It sounds like a band that has played countless hours, where some other part of themselves is taking over so the performers can join the party.

LISTEN TO IT.

The album is on Tuff Gong and Island, through UMe. Copies are now at High Rhodes Records, a record store in Frisco, Colorado, serving Summit County vinyl collectors, reggae fans, and anyone just getting into records. Stop by 285 Main Street to dig through the bins, or message us and we'll set one aside.
