Dead Poet Society have built a loud, dramatic sound that sits somewhere between alt-rock and something darker. Monarch is their third studio album and the follow-up to 2024’s Fission. It came out October 2 on Spinefarm Records, and we have it at High Rhodes Records in Frisco, Colorado, on vinyl.
The album
Monarch has twelve tracks, produced by Paul Meany of Mutemath and mixed by Grammy winner Adam Hawkins. The tracklist includes “Hollywood On Fire,” “Roach,” “Sinner Systems,” “Cold,” “Miami For The Weekend,” and “The Art Of Suffering.” Start with the singles “Roach,” “Sinner Systems,” and “Cold.” Drummer Will Goodroad describes “Cold” as a song about performing for each other, reshaping ourselves for acceptance, and choosing to indulge in it anyway.

Here is another review from The Spill Magazine. Mercedes Chircop gives Monarch 4.5 out of 5, calling it an album that “demands your attention” instead of playing in the background. She hears a heavy, emotional, almost unsettling record that shows a more vulnerable side of the band, with a rawness that makes each song feel personal, and a band still evolving without losing what makes them recognizable.
